AAAMS Offers Botox Training and Non-Invasive Cosmetic Surgery Classes

Los Angeles, CA – March 2009 – It’s where aesthetic medicine meets the art of beauty. Plastic surgeons, OB-GYNs, dermatologists, internists, and anti-aging physicians looking to refine or introduce non-invasive cosmetic surgery techniques now have a qualified training program by the American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (AAAMS). With over 200 active members and more than 100 physicians trained last year, AAAMS stands as the authority of training cutting edge, non-invasive cosmetic procedures.

The next training session, Aesthetic Medicine 101 offers courses and certification in Botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels, liquid facelift, and aesthetic facial analysis, which will be held March 26 - 27, 2009 in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Sam Assassa, the President of AAAMS and a pioneer in aesthetics medicine along with other AAAMS faculty members will train participants with live demonstrations showcasing groundbreaking techniques. This intensive, hands-on training session will cover procedures such as chemical peels, Cosmetic Botox® training, dermal fillers, mesotherapy, and general facial rejuvenation.

The American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (AAAMS) hosts cosmetic surgery conferences throughout the year, focusing on a variety of aesthetic, non-invasive cosmetic surgery techniques and procedures that are highly sought after by physicians from all over the world for certification in the aesthetic medicine and surgery specialty.

“AAAMS offers the most comprehensive courses available, making the time for individualized attention to each participant’s questions,” said Julie Benzie, an RN and recent course participant. “I would recommend this course to any level of provider who would like training in aesthetic medicine.”

Non-Invasive Aesthetic Surgery More Popular Than Ever

The economy may be in a slump, but the aesthetic surgery industry is getting a boost from the current economic climate.

MarketWatch.com, part of The Wall Street Journal’s empire, published an article detailing current trends in cosmetic and aesthetic surgery as determined by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. While traditional cosmetic procedures such as breast implants and liposuction saw dramatic decreases, services like Botox and Smart Lipo saw rapid increases in the number of services performed.

As patients opt for less-expensive aesthetic procedures, non-invasive cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Sam Assassa of Beverly Hills Aesthetics are sure to see a continued rise in demand for their services.

“In the current economy, of course people are going to opt for minimally invasive cosmetic procedures,” said Dr. Assassa. “They are less expensive, and a great alternative when downtime is not an option – people simply can’t leave work for weeks at a time to recover from traditional cosmetic surgery.”

Forever Young! Anti-Aging Tips from Beverly Hills Aesthetics

Rod Stewart had the right idea; forever young is definitely the way we would all like to be, and in Beverly Hills, looking young is a must.

Most of us however, don’t have the time for expensive anti-aging treatments and lets be honest, we can’t all have Rod’s ravishingly good looks.

Dr. Assassa has shared his wisdom on how to slow the aging process and given a variety of anti-aging tips to Preferred Consumer, an online consumer magazine.

Here’s a taste of some of the wisdom shared:

Anti-Aging Tips For Your 20s

In our 20s, skin cell renewal drops by up to 28 percent; dead skin cells are not as easily shed, and external factors are starting to have a greater impact, leaving our skin slightly duller. Below are some anti-aging tips for those in their 20s to keep their skin healthy:

•    Avoid sunlight or cover-up: Up to 80 percent of aging is directly related to sun exposure. Penetrating UVA rays damage collaged fibers and elastin coils in your skin.
•    Now is a good time to quit smoking: Smoking inhibits oxygen from getting to the outer layer of your skin, which causes premature aging. Additionally, the motion of smoking over a long period of time can cause fine lines around your mouth. This is not an appealing look!
•    Use a daily skin care regimen: You should cleanse, moisturize and use SPF on a daily basis. It is also important to exfoliate 2-3 times a week to promote skin renewal on a regular basis.

Pharmawire Reports on Botox Cosmetic Trends, Dr. Assassa Is Expert Source

Pharmawire is a news wire service dedicated to reporting the latest news in the pharmaceutical industry. Beverly Hills Aesthetics’ Dr. Assassa was featured on Pharmawire to lend his expert opinion to the discussion on Allergan’s Botox Cosmetic and its newest competitor Medicis’ Phase III Reloxin.

Pharmawire’s feature on Botox discussed the growth potential in the cosmetic market, despite recent economic downturns. It explained that while individuals who have never used Botox might delay initiating introductory appointments but those who are already using fillers will continue to do so.

Dr. Assassa agreed with this assessment, stating that patients are extending the time between injections, but not forgoing them entirely.

Dr. Assassa added to this by stating, “It would be nice to see the [Botox] monopoly broken up. I think it will be good for the consumer.”

Additionally, with the negative rumours surrounding Botox usage, one can help but wonder if this effects patient’s decisions to continue their treatments.

Dr. Assassa gives his opinion stating, “It’s something that’s an eye-opener, but nothing to be concerned about at this point. Botox has been around in this country since 1989. If there’s any safety issue, I think it becomes negligible. It’s a drop of water in the ocean.”

It is important to recognize that each of these products, Botox and Reloxin have their individual benefits and that the physician will choose which product is best fit for each patient, depending on their needs. While Reloxin consists of the same botulinum type A toxin used in Botox, Reloxin will be packaged differently and have differences in purification and dilution.
